In the beginning....

A few years ago I cycled from Bristol to Bodmin. En route I met a number of people who were completing the holy grail of British treks – John O’Groats to Lands End (JOGLE, apparently). Apart from making my 200 mile jaunt seem a bit slack, they really inspired me to have a shot at it. So this April, I will.

I will be cycling JOGLE with the aim of raising lots of money for Farleigh Hospice (please donate here), where my Dad passed away on 21 April 2000. I’ll most likely be departing on 10 April and making the trek over 11 days, arriving at Lands End on 21 April 2010. The plan is to cycle solo with no GPS (iPhone will be staying in London) and follow a CTC route which I found here – it’s the second option I’ll be going for. I decided to do this 2 days ago, so this is still all a bit sketchy. I plan on posting here about once a week as the plan develops, so watch this space.

So do I increase my chances of success and join a gym?
