Fwd: 3 days and some special news

> This is the first night in a while I've had phone signal in my b&b
> so here's what I've been up to.

> Slaidburn

> After the bike was fixed I had a pretty flat/dull sunny/headwind run
> round the outskirts of Manchester towards Slaidburn. Well behind
> schedule it was dark by the time I got to the Forest of Bowland and
> with 6 miles to go I was glad to bump into another cyclist heading
> to the same hostel (John - turns out it was user error with the
> gears + thanks for the sponsor money I'll put it on JG when I get
> home). After a few jars and a good nights sleep it was time to head

> This was the day I passed the half way point but also hit a bit of a
> wall - the headwind was really beginning to frustrate me and
> progress was painfully slow. A jacket potatoe and chunk of rocky
> road at Teabay helped sort me out, and when the Pennines came into
> sight it all seemed worthwhile. I had another lucky encounter with a
> local cyclist, who rode with me for about 15 miles showing me some
> shortcuts and the local establishment (thanks Jayne & Michael for

> Peebles

> I set off today and finally had the wind on my side. It made all the
> difference and I had a beautifully ride across the Scotish border
> towards Peebles. It was almost too hot! Two firsts today 1) Hiting
> 60km/h (scary) 2) feeling like I could do a few more miles when I
> got to the B&B. Scampi and chips for dinner and Full Metal Jacket on
> the box - it's a pitty I just caught the weather for tomorrow.

And the special news... I had a phone call from a journo at the
Gazette who's going to run a piece on this little escapade! She's also
spoke with mum and Rosie!!!! Whatever next?
